Western Municipal Water DistrictRiverside, California
This project consists of two buildings. The first is a 12,500-square-foot maintenance facility that contains shops and service bays. The second is an administrative building including office space, meeting rooms, a large training room with full projection and audio capabilities, restrooms complete with showers and locker rooms, and garden courtyards. The building’s design theme features undulating curves that reflect the playful nature of water and is reinforced with a color palette of soft blue. The space is enhanced with natural light that spills in through skylights that are dispersed throughout the building.
Both buildings are serviced by uninterruptible power with standby generation. The facility is also designed to operate with significantly reduced water usage for both the domestic and irrigation systems, and high efficiency HVAC units, coupled with carbon dioxide sensors, optimize energy performance. The building earned a LEED Silver rating.
