Unlocking the Future of Data Centers: Adobe Data Center Case Study

AlfaTech, in collaboration with Adobe and AT-PD, recently showcased the Adobe Data Center Case Study during the 7×24 Exchange International 2023 Fall Conference, held from October 8th to 11th at the Gaylord Texan Resort in Grapevine, Texas. The presentation delved into the strategic approach and invaluable insights gained from the 12-year, multi-phase Adobe Data Center project situated in Hillsboro, Oregon.

The project was a greenfield design of a state-of-the-art, environmentally conscious 70,000 square-foot data center, achieving a LEED Gold certification. Within this facility, approximately 30,000 square feet were designated as data hall space for IT/server equipment, housing essential electrical, mechanical, and mezzanine rooms for critical infrastructure. Additionally, it accommodated office space, a loading dock, and equipment storage. The design incorporated a robust 7.5 MW of critical power, sourced from a 12kV main switchgear, complemented by new transformers and UPS modules, along with new PDU’s and distribution infrastructure. To optimize cooling efficiency, the HVAC system utilized indirect evaporative cooling in conjunction with supplemental direct expansion cooling. Furthermore, the design featured hot aisle and cold aisle containment strategies. The construction encompassed the entire building structure, as well as the installation of a single 3MW POD, with provisions for future expansion to accommodate an additional 4.5MW.

We extend our sincere gratitude to Mike Hamershock and Paule Bates from Adobe for their invaluable support and active participation in the presentation. With the ongoing advancements in technology and the growing emphasis on sustainability, the future of the data center industry shines brighter than ever before.
