Description

AlfaTech provided full mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), and architectural lighting design services for the University of San Diego Wellness & Recreation Center. The new three-level facility spans approximately 93,000 SF of interior space and 39,300 SF of outdoor amenities, designed to foster a holistic and inclusive wellness experience for students.

The interior program includes roughly 57,738 SF of wellness and recreation space, featuring yoga and fitness studios, strength and conditioning areas, multipurpose exercise rooms, team lockers, all-gender restrooms, instructional kitchens, administrative offices, and other amenities. Dedicated aquatics space covers 6,163 SF, and NCAA indoor practice and training facilities span 30,108 SF, including two full-size gyms. A previously planned full aquatic center was value-engineered into a multi-use soccer field to optimize campus needs.

AlfaTech’s architectural lighting team delivered tailored solutions for both indoor and outdoor environments, enhancing usability, energy efficiency, and the wellness-focused atmosphere. Once complete, the center will serve as a cornerstone for student life, supporting USD’s mission to educate the whole person—mind, body, and spirit.
